Note: This applet uses the second-generation Java user interface. Many people need to download and install a plugin to make this work. Sorry for the inconvenience.

SkyApplet

This applet tells you where the sun and moon are in the sky for a given time and place. The "latitude" slider lets you move north & south. The "time offset" slider changes the time by up to half a day. The "date offset" slider changes the date by up to half a year.

Altitude: 0 = horizon, 90 = straight up (0 = edge, 90 = center of plot)
Azimuth: degrees clockwise from north (north = top of plot)
At the poles, where north is undefined, right ascension (an angle measured versus a point near the constellation Aries) is used instead of azimuth.

Sunshine units are watts per square meter incident on a panel facing the sun. UV is the amount of radiation compared to that with a sun altitude of 90 degrees. The applet assumes standard sea-level, clear-sky conditions.

Here's the JAR File containing the source code. Be sure to save the HTML source too! It contains a lot of nonsense required to use the newer Java interface.
